Following recent updates to Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) standards, we are updating our guidance to support members and are looking for your input.
The HCPC is the regulatory body for SLTs and has a set of standards which all practicing SLTs must adhere to. The RCSLT provides guidance and resources to support members to meet these standards in practice.
New HCPC standards of proficiency for speech and language therapists came into effect in September 2023, and the standards of conduct, performance and ethics have been revised and are due to come into effect in September 2024.
We are therefore updating our guidance related to these standards and are looking for members across different roles, settings and clinical areas from across the UK to get involved in this work.
The project will include providing and collating guidance and resources (including a review and audit of topics within our delivering quality services area) and highlighting what has changed in the HCPC standards and what this means for practice.
