Joint statement on the Government response to the petition: Fund improved support for people with communication and swallowing needs

As the Build Back Better petition has reached 10,000 signatures, the Government have made a formal response. We reiterate our thanks to everyone who made this response possible.
We need to reflect on what the Government has said and consult with partners, and we will respond fully in due course. At first sight, however, the response pulls together existing government statements and commitments, but is silent on the resources that will be needed to build speech and language therapy services back better.
We would ask that RCSLT members and supporters continue to sign and share the petition and continue to contact your MPs. The greater the number of petition signatures, the greater our collective call – and the issues facing people with communication and swallowing needs deserve being debated in Parliament.
