Join us as we celebrate 80 years of the RCSLT

15 April 2025

We’re holding a unique and unforgettable event to mark 80 years of the RCSLT in London next month and we’re inviting you to join us.

The celebratory event will be taking place on Wednesday 21 May 2025 at the history-rich and stunningSouthwark Cathedral in London from 11am – 12pm.

During the event we will be recognising the speech and language therapy profession and looking back at the amazing work that has taken place over the last 80 years to improve the lives of people with speech, language, communication and/or swallowing difficulties.

You’ll hear reflections and readings from our CEO, Steve Jamieson, and Chair, Irma Donaldson, as well as a special sit-down conversation between RCSLT President Nick Hewer and one of our longest-serving SLTs, Pam Enderby, as she reflects on her remarkable career. The programme also includes an inspirational reading by a practising SLT, along with poems read by our recent placement student SLTs.

We’re also honoured to welcome a service user, who will share a powerful reflection on his experience with speech and language therapy following a tracheostomy. Throughout the event, the Great Western Hospitals NHS Choir will be performing.

All RCSLT members  are welcome to register to attend this event, by completing an application of interest form.

The deadline to register your interest is Monday 7 May 2025. Please note, due to limited places available we may close the registration form early, so please register your interest asap to secure your place.

Visit the event page or find out more about how we’re marking RCSLT at 80.

*Please note this is not a religious service, nor is it intended to promote any faith. Instead, it is a moment for reflection and celebration, recognising the history and achievements of our profession in a prestigious and accessible venue that can accommodate a large gathering.
