26 March 2025
On 26 March 2025, Allied Health Professionals across Wales came together to launch the Allied Health Professions Federation Cymru.
The Allied Health Professions Federation (AHPF Cymru) represents 13 of the Allied Health Professions in Wales. AHPF has existed across other parts of the UK for many years, but this is the first time there has been a presence in Wales.
Caroline Walters, External Affairs Manager at RCSLT Wales, who will be taking the role of Chair of AHPF Cymru, said, “I am very proud to be the first chair of AHPF Cymru. As AHP policy officers working in Wales, we have a long history of collaborating across professions but the launch of AHPF Cymru, with associated funding, provides an opportunity to work together more strategically. We have made fantastic progress in the first few months, speaking to key stakeholders such as the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care and designing our manifesto for the 2026 Senedd elections. I’m excited for the year ahead and the chance to amplify the voice of AHPs in Wales.”
At the Senedd event, Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Health and Social Care, James Evans MS, welcomed delegates and Minister for Children and Social Care, Dawn Bowden MS, gave the keynote address, whilst Caroline outlined the key priorities and vision of AHPF Cymru in its first year.
The group has three strategic priorities.
- Workforce
- Service Transformation/The Future of Health and Social Care
- Visibility of AHPs/Leadership
AHPF Cymru’s vision is that the Allied Health Professionals workforce is positioned to improve the health and well-being of the population in Wales. Its mission is to provide collective AHP leadership and representation to influence national policy and guidance at a strategic level.
Lansio AHPF Cymru mewn digwyddiad yn y Senedd
Mae’r Ffederasiwn Proffesiynau Perthynol i Iechyd (AHPF Cymru) yn cynrychioli 13 o’r Proffesiynau Perthynol i Iechyd yng Nghymru. Mae’r AHPF wedi bodoli mewn rhannau eraill o’r Deyrnas Unedig ers blynyddoedd lawer, ond dyma’r tro cyntaf y bu presenoldeb yng Nghymru.
Dywedodd Caroline Walters, Rheolwr Materion Allanol RCSLT Cymru, fydd yn cymryd swydd Cadeirydd AHPF Cymru: “Rwy’n falch iawn i fod yn gadeirydd cyntaf AHPF Cymru. Fel swyddogion polisi Proffesiynau Perthynol i Iechyd sy’n gweithio yng Nghymru, mae gennym hanes hir o gydweithio ar draws proffesiynau ond mae lansio AHPF Cymru, gyda chyllid cysylltiedig, yn rhoi cyfle i gydweithio mewn modd mwy strategol. Gwnaethom gynnydd gwych yn yr ychydig fisoedd cyntaf, gan siarad gyda rhanddeiliaid allweddol fel yr Ysgrifennydd Cabinet dros Iechyd a Gofal Cymdeithasol a chynllunio ein maniffesto ar gyfer etholiadau 2026 i Senedd Cymru. Rwy’n edrych ymlaen at y flwyddyn i ddod a’r cyfle i godi llais Proffesiynau Perthynol i Iechyd yng Nghymru.

Yn y digwyddiad yn y Senedd, cafodd cynrychiolwyr eu croesawu gan James Evans AS, Ysgrifennydd Cabinet Cysgodol dros Iechyd a Gofal Cymdeithasol, a rhoddodd Dawn Bowden AS, Gweinidog Plant a Gofal Cymdeithasol, y prif anerchiad, tra amlinellodd Caroline y blaenoriaethau allweddol a gweledigaeth AHPF Cymru yn ei flwyddyn gyntaf.
Mae gan y grwp dair blaenoriaeth strategol.
- Gweithlu
- Trawsnewid Gwasanaeth /Dyfodol iechyd a Gofal Cymdeithasol
- Amlygrwydd Proffesiynau Perthynol i Iechyd/Arweinyddiaeth
Gweledigaeth AHPF Cymru yw fod y gweithlu Proffesiynau Perthynol i Iechyd mewn sefyllfa i wella iechyd a llesiant y boblogaeth yng Nghymru. Ei genhadaeth yw darparu arweinyddiaeth ar y cyd i’r Proffesiynau Perthynol i Iechyd a chynrychiolaeth i ddylanwadu ar bolisi ac arweiniad cenedlaethol ar lefel strategol.
