Symplify is a web toolkit, designed to make it quicker and easier to deliver individualised, evidence-based speech and language interventions. It features powerful linguistic search tools, over 24,000 Widgit symbols and a suite of engaging therapy games and activities. It can be used in both face-to-face and teletherapy sessions, thanks to an innovative Symplify Live tool, for sharing the activities virtually.
Vanessa is a specialist speech and language therapist, specialising in children’s speech sound disorders (SSDs). She has a background in clinical work both in the NHS and as an independent SLT, as well as involvement in research in several guises over the years. Vanessa’s creation of Symplify (along with her web developer husband Dave) was born from her own clinical frustrations and those of her colleagues, her MSc research project exploring the challenges faced by UK SLTs working with SSDs, and her work for the RCSLT helping to bridge the research-practice gap. She is passionate about finding ways to make SLTs working lives easier.
Vanessa’s presentation will take you through all the key features of Symplify and how to use them, and will also include some tips and tricks for using Symplify with multiple languages.
