Digital accessibility

Our vision is to be a leader in digital accessibility and inclusive communication.

Our goal is for our website and other digital services to be inclusive so everyone can access them. We are working on making improvements, but this may take some time. We will update this page when we make changes.

Tips and advice on accessing our digital content

  • Accessibility menu: we are testing out an accessibility menu to make pages easier to read. You can use this to customise the page by changing font size, background colour, contrast and other things. Currently this menu appears on web pages hosted by RCSLT, but not on some areas of the site such as the CPD diary.
  • Other languages: some of our content is available in Welsh. You can use Google Translate on most browsers and devices. Find out more about using Google Translate. Please be aware that online translations can be useful, but they might not be accurate when translating medical terms and other words. They might not be culturally sensitive. Members can access advice on interpreters and translations.
  • Screen readers: our pages are set up to allow screen readers to turn text into speech.

Alternative formats

To request alternative formats like braille, please email us.
We have easyread versions of some content.

Our accessibility goals

We are working with the digital accessibility experts, AbilityNet, on improving our accessibility online. As part of this, we are consulting people with lived experience of disability and accessibility experts.

What we do

Our experienced digital and content teams work towards a high standard of accessibility based on the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. This includes language suitable to the audience, clear visual design and contrast, and using alternative text on all images. We strive to improve and tailor our content to the needs of our users.

Challenges

We offer a range of digital products to support our members with training, CPD and networking. Most of these are reached via our website. Some of these products are hosted by external providers, and these may not all be at an equal level of accessibility.

We provide a comprehensive set of expert guidance for professionals. Due to the technical nature of this information, some of the content uses complex language.

If you have any ideas for making our website more accessible please email us.
